Which horror remake do you prefer The Blob (1988) or The Fly (1986)?

I definitely prefer The Blob because it had a lot more going on in the movie

That's a tough one. I love both films. It's so close but I'm going to have to go with "The Blob" as it is more entertaining. I do think "The Fly" is the better made film, though.

It looks a bit sweaty in there so you may need to apply baby powder Zapp Brannigan

Don't forget John Carpenters The Thing. Along with Aliens, my all time favs. All though Aliens isn't a remake. You can't deny these are 2 of the baddess still. Oh, because of The Blob, I've had a crush on Shawnee Smith for 30 yrs! Go figure. My math is wrong, 28 yrs.

The Thing wasn't a "remake" of The Thing from Another World, they are 2 completely very different movies, it's actually another adaptation of the 1938 book and a more truer adaptation.

I'd say The Fly but The Blob is great.

"Unicorn, mermaid, vampire, sorceress! No name you'd give her would surprise me i love whom i love"

It's fair to call Carpenter's version of "The Thing" a remake. In fact, it's a remake of the very best kind because it was a superb film that was significantly different from the original. The Thing (1982) is also impressive because the 1951 film was a classic in its own right, even if dated. Carpenter was competing with a much loved film, at least by moviegoers of his generation or older. The original Howard Hawks version strayed a long ways from the Campbell novella, but obviously there were many elements in common (the space ship in the ice, the alien buried for hundreds of thousands of years, the arctic setting). Therefore, in my view, the 1951 version certainly qualifies as a movie adaptation of Campbell's "Who Goes There?" Because the '82 film shares the same source material, I'd say it qualifies as a remake. It's probably just a matter of semantics. I can see the validity of your point of view as well.

The Fly, any day, any time.

The Fly remake was the better movie.

I enjoyed The Blob but I think The Fly is a flat out excellent film.

I like "The Blob" remake more.

"The Blob"! Definitely. "The Fly" was a lot of Cronenberg goop and glop. It took the sequel to get to the actual creature.

I do like both movies and think they are great remakes but I think The Fly remake is better
