Anyone else besides me think that the intense wild sex that goes on in Hellraiser is a bit too much? I'm not trying to sound like a prude or whatever but the thrusting or Frank giving it to Julia real good I still think it's way too much even for an old late 1980s horror movie

Anyway, sex has to be demonstrated in this film, as it's Julia's motivation (unusual for a female, which makes this film different). If anything, the right amount of sex was used. But seriously, in a gorefest like this, the bits of sex are a drop in the bucket on a hardwood floor.
shareA lot of the hang ups come from how some people are raised by their prudish parents, society in general, and religion plays a huge part in it as well. Too many people think sex is sinful and shouldn't be enjoyed for pleasure which is completely ridiculous! This is 2017 not 1957 people. It really needs to stop, this sex shaming attitude is not healthy for society and it causes sexual repression just like Julia in this movie! Sex is very natural and telling someone they can't have sex is like telling someone they can't take a shit, sex is nature grow up and get over it "SOCIETY" lol! No wonder people get so violent or pissed off all the time, when you tell them pre marital sex is a "sin" or tell them they'll go to hell for enjoying it that's what happens. I hate to break to people but religion is a huge factor in it all, always has been. I'm not saying every Christian is like that or whoever else but way too many are unfortunately.

shareYeah, how someone was raised (that doesn't mean that the parents can't have offspring that have morals and demonstrate restraint, who also aren't loose with people in general, just that there's a good balance; plus some of those parents who end up stifling their kids end up with an airball anyway), and organized religion too plays a part for sure. It's like what George Carlin once said, sex crimes would practically be eliminated in a couple hundred years if the religious guilt goes away.
shareIf you notice nowadays you hardly see sex scenes anymore, 80's and 90's was the golden age for sex scenes in film! People are more comfortable with violence but sex is too much for them? There's something seriously twisted about that. Honestly I liked most of the sex scenes in the first 4 Hellraisers, the one in part 3 was awesome! Maybe it wasn't necessary to tell the story but it seems classic to me and ads to the entertainment value of it, at the end of the day movies are for entertainment. Bring back the graphic sex scenes in cinema Hollywood, quit being pussies(no pun intended!)!

My favorite sex scene in any film though, might be the love scene from "The Terminator": it kind of comes out of nowhere, it seems like it has nothing to do with the story but it does, and it's very tasteful.
Yes, that's the one! I haven't seen a sex scene in a horror film that hot since! Too bad Pinhead flayed her character like a fish lol! I would've never thrown her out like J.P. did, at least bang her a few more times and yeah she was annoying/airheaded but she was too hot! J.P. wasn't thinking straight lol! The Terminator sex scene was pretty good and you definitely felt the passion of the characters during the lovemaking, if you're going to conceive the savior of mankind that's how you do it! I also like the sex scene in The Fly 2, it was shorter but very sexy and lovely too! It also helped that you were invested in the characters before the sex and made it mean something to the audience so doesn't come off as tacked on just to show some smut.
shareI just checked out part 3 of Hellraiser online (haven't really seen it in probably 12 years or so) and that scene with the blonde is 21 minutes in. I'm reminded of another reason why I thought it was hot, other than the sweat & the boob massaging: she was wearing boots!

I agree, the combination of the sweat, boob massage and the black boots was very hot! Also the pleasure sounds she's making is pretty sexy too. Species 2 has a scene with the astronaut having sex with the two sisters in the hotel suite, it's very hot with the thrusting and the way he thrusts all the way in when he's banging the second sister making her squeal was pretty awesome, just don't see stuff like that anymore lol! Gotta' love the 1990's. Although halfway in the scene it gets gross with him turning into the alien but before that it's a great sex scene!

shareSomething I forgot to mention about the sex scene flashback of Frank and Julie having the affair, I get the sense that a lot of footage was cut out of that scene and you can kind've tell when watching it. I know Clive Barker said there was more footage of it with spanking and other stuff the MPAA was not comfortable with. I bet they shot tons of raunchy footage of that scene that sadly is probably lost to time, you see more of that scene in Hellbound during Kirsty's flashback/recap, I thought that extra footage was pretty hot and intense! I'd love to see all of what they shot but like I said, it's probably lost. Damn MPAA, why are you guys such prudes LOL?!!
shareYeah, I did like the footage of Julia and Frank from the Hellraiser sequel more than in the original film. But I agree, either way you can tell that the scene(s) were hacked to shreds.

I think the sex was also to suggest that Frank was a sadist. There's nothing loving about the way he has sex with her. It's all angry, aggressive grunting, like he gets off on this idea that he's hurting her.
