I recall how they regretted making her look so severe in that scene at the book-signing gig with her hair scraped off her face. At the meeting the following morning, she looks very soft and feminine with a softer hairline and wearing virginal white.

She sort of fluctuates throughout the movie. Another God-awful severe look was when she was trailing Dan's hire car whilst he played her manic tape! I think that was deliberate. She looked like she had no eyebrows for a start in certain scenes, giving her this high-forehead to accompany her evil stare!! But she did look attractive in parts which I think was part of the genius. You had to see what Dan saw in here then you also had to see her looking villainous so you could appreciate how unhinged she was!

This is the second thread you've started specifically aimed at branding the females in the movie as 'ugly', even the six year old child. You sound like a real prize.

By the way, it's 'cast', not 'casted'.

They started her off with a lot of makeup etc and pared it down each scene until by the end, she had almost a bare face...this was to highlight her unravelling.

I saw this when it first came out, and she/her look was viewed as hot.

Times change.

I remember watching Broadcast News a few years ago with my niece, telling her how hot William Hurt was, and gfriends and myself were just gaga over him. She laughed and laughed (at me) all thru the film, especially when he’s referred to as a pretty boy.

80s poodle hairdos were a hot mess.

She looks hideous in the first scene at the party but much better later on in the movie when she wears bangs.
