You need to check Going Berserk. It was trashed by the critics, and had a limited release, but probably the best thing that John Candy ever did. It is available on a John Candy Box Set, along with Uncle Buck and The Great Outdoors.

I love this film, but I also do like "The Great Outdoors" and "Uncle Buck" (which I think is sweet; I thought John Candy had that knack of making you care about his characters, like in "Planes, Trains, and Automobiles" too!).

Yeah they don't make them like this any more, everyone takes themselves too seriously these days. This film is great fun, and what a cast.

The 30s kicked the shit out of 80s comedies: the Marx Brothers, W.C. Fields, Mae West. The 30s had wit. The 80s had The National Lampoon.
