I keep seeing people say it should have been Alien then into Alien 3 and skipping this one. Aliens is a classic. My favorite Alien movie, favorite extraterrestrial movie, favorite action movie, and next to Terminator 2, favorite science fiction movie. Alien was good but this just took everything to whole new level. And Alien 3 sucked! What is wrong with you people???

Alien 3 is terrible, I swear if David Fincher wasn't as revered as he is now, people would still say Alien 3 is garbage, but because it's directed by Fincher who can do no wrong, it becomes "Oh, I've always really liked Alien 3, I think it's underrated and better than the first."
shareThat’s strange. Can’t think of any reason why the film would suddenly not hold up. It’s a great action movie. Can’t remember anything in that would suddenly be offensive to the thought police.
Female lead. Badass. Females represented equally in the future military with their share of badasses.
Awesome cast.
Special effects hold up.
Perhaps it’s part of the James Cameron backlash?

There's also the backlash from Alien 3 fans. There are also some Alien fans who believe Cameron spoiled the mystery of Alien with the introduction of the Queen. The majority of people though still champion Aliens as the best in the series.
Personally speaking, I feel over time (though originally being my favourite) I've come to like the original more.
