This almost feels like a Christopher Reeve era Superman movie

The central plot in A View to a Kill deals with microchips in Silicon Valley. AVTAK came out roughly around the same time that Superman III did with its plot about computers being used as weapons. Also, Max Zorin's scheme to destroy and flood Silicon Valley with an earthquake sounds an awful lot like Lex Luthor's scheme in Superman: The Movie.

"Gold" was directed by Peter Hunt (who directed On Her Majesty's Secret Service) and starred Roger Moore. The plot is rather reminiscent in some ways, dealing with the intentional flooding of a gold mine in South Africa. Also, "Goldfinger" has a somewhat similar basic idea as this one as well in that the intent is to corner the market in micro chips instead of increasing the value of gold.

would've been awesome had Christopher Reeve been in AVTAK in a cameo as a CIA agent helping Bond maybe in place of David Yip

Christopher Reeve actually crossed paths with Roger Moore since Superman III was filming at Pinewood Studios around the same time as Octopussy.

So Superman was there when Bond barely defused the big nuclear bomb in the German US Air Force Base??? He could've just picked up that cannon and flown it away in no time flat!

Yeah, for sure - although I don't think it's mentioned, perhaps Max Zorin was inspired by Mr Luthor's scheme having watched Superman back in '78, some years before the events of this film.
