Is this film really a Fight Club scenario?

Preacher is a figment of Hull's imagination. He is a representation of Hull's potential and what he needs to do: He needs to find courage to confront the villains; He needs to offer leadership to his community; He needs to stop being coy with his fiance and be a father to Megan. So it's him who finds the courage and does these things, but in his mind, it's the intrepid stranger that does it.

Interesting theory. I think it’s more like High Plains Drifter. He’s the ghost of a real person. Maybe that’s too simple.

“Behold a pale horse...”

No, that's exactly what it is. High Plains Drifter more specifically is Jesus going through "the harrowing in Hell" phase between his crucifixion and resurrection, but he definitely is a symbolic representation for people's guilt and fallibility. At least I see it that way.

Well Eastwood said in an interview Preacher is a ghost. So....

Interesting theory.
