Just saw it for the first time

First thoughts:

Holy shit Josh Brolin looks young, omg thats Rudy Samwise and Shortround sounds even more chinese i cant understand a single word he's saying.

Mid movie thoughts:

the plot script is really dumb, even by 80s kid movie standards. and damn that girl is 15 and i saw her panties 5 times.

End movie thoughts:

Thank god its over. i dont know if its a preteen boy thing but they all screamed when they talked. annoying as hell. blatant anti-italian racism, anti-mexican racism and Iranian...never seen an iranian terrorist anywhere they have all been arab but whatever.

Now im trying to imagine myself being a kid and watching it (I was 2 when the movie came out.)
i would have probably liked it more than i do now but i doubt it would have been as memorable as star wars, indiana jones, or even ET. The vampire movie with corey haim and keifer sutherland has aged 100x better and its a better movie overall. this movie i would say way overrated.

ps

was that sam kinison?

Maybe if you had watched it when you were younger you would of enjoyed it

While people can age into movies, like with dramas and historical films, it is a common misperception that because there are kids in a film it is a better film if seen as a child. The Goonies and The Phantom Menace are not good films, and they are not better because some kids believe them to be.

There are many films and television shows that have kids as leads that I enjoy. Some I enjoyed as a child; others I have enjoyed as an adult. What I enjoy has not changed much over time.

Speaking as a person of Italian descent that is ridiculous.

What the fuck?

Yes, stupid...there ARE Persian Arabs.

Yes...Iranians are Persians.

Ignorant asshole.

This movie wasn’t far removed from the IRAN hostage crisis.

But I guess a little shit like you know nothings about it.

Man! I loved this movie as a kid! It played every Halloween and it scared the shit outta me. Haven’t watched it in years though. I did however legit consider starting a gofundme to buy the goonie house last year!
