Sure, this movie is godawful, but the books they were based on are good.
There are five books, based on Welsh myths, which I greatly enjoyed as a child. This is a property that could be made into a fun film franchise, either animated or CGI-heavy live action, as long as they bring in some talented filmmakers.
Because it would be almost impossible to make a worse version than the 1985 one, they might as well give it a go!
Totally agree on the books. I LOVED these books as a kid. I never saw the movie as I was warned off by a fellow enthusiast of the books.
I think one of these higher production value outfits like HBO or Netflix could do a great series. Pretty grim material, IIRC (although it had been an age)
I hadn't thought of a series, I was thinking a film franchise, but I suppose a series could work.
Hollywood is so desperate for "pre-sold" properties now, and that includes books that large numbers of people read as children. Why not the Lloyd Alexander books?
Those were great stories.
