Does anyone else think the world of 1984 would make an awesome compelling HBO style series?

The world is so compelling. In the book, we witness the system of ingsoc at both the micro and a little bit of the mezzo level, but it would be very intriguing to pull the perspective out a little bit and see it at the macro level. Revelations about the disputed lands war and the other 2 ultra-powers would be cool.

Or do you think the concept would loose its intrigue if it’s overly-revealed?

I think they’d run out of ideas pretty quickly once they detracted from the source material.

A little bit like they did with Game of Thrones.

I think a new 1984 adaptation would be good, especially now with it being the 70th anniversary of the book last year and the year 1984 is now farther in the past than it was in the future in 1949. I just hope they don't try to bring modern politics in too much (i.e. have Big Brother look like Donald Trump).

If it has seasons, no. It would start fine, get woke, and lose its audience.

If it was a miniseries like Chernobyl, it may be better. They'll have to keep it nondescript and timeless though. HBO isn't good at that. They're still better than Netflix and their garbage series.
