Is Daniel's Mom a Plot hole?

I was just re-watching this and I'm supposed to believe Daniel's mom - in the EARLY 80S! - gets offered a job in California with some high tech computer company?!!

As a WOMAN? Yeah, right. From what I've been taught, until very recently woman had no rights whatsoever and therefore her getting such an opportunity ahead of a male member of the oppressive patriarchy would have been nigh on impossible!

I call b-llsh-t on this fabricated plot point.

reply

If you want to say it's unbelievable you might have a better talking point.

But plot hole. Do you know what a plot hole is?

reply

In fiction, a plot hole, plothole or plot error is a gap or inconsistency in a storyline that goes against the flow of logic established by the story's plot. Such inconsistencies include things as illogical, unlikely or impossible events, and statements or events that contradict earlier events in the storyline.

reply

Okay good you can use google. Again it's still not a plot hole.

reply

Of course I can google! I pasted in the very first result (didn't even have to click through on a link!).

However, if - having read that and in particular the highlighted wording - you still don't understand why it is a plot hole then I cannot help you...

It's not highly impossible for a career woman to have a high profile job in 1984. If anything it's the basis in the story for why the Larusso's move to Cali in the first place. I speak from experience as my godmother was a highly successful career woman in the 80s.

If you want to call it unlikely I'll give you that. But for the last time it's not a plot hole.

Exactly. So if you go back and read my OP you should now be equipped to understand why my questioning whether she is a plot hole makes sense in terms of my understanding of women's rights prior to the current twitter sjw era, the plot at the beginning of the film and the definition of "plot hole" (including YOUR "unlikely" events) above...

reply

Okay whatever I'm not going to argue anymore. We agree that it can be deemed unlikely. So lets just end it here and stop the back and forth.

A plot hole NO. Unlikely Yes. So agree to disagree. I'm done with this conversation

reply

The back and forth is rather silly.

However just as silly is your attempt to argue against the literal definition of a plot hole. I understand it may not fit in with your preconceptions of what a "plot hole" is but the fact that it is, is what also made it amusing to me.

But yes, the writing is getting too thin now, so let us part agreeing to disagree 👍

You just had to take one last dig. You're clearly trolling now, and shame on me for taking the bait. It's not a plot hole you moron. Your opinion is not a fact. It's just your opinion. Go away now

Unbelievable.

Either you genuinely cannot comprehend the disparity of what you are saying and the definition or the actual trolling going on here is pretty obvious...

Either way, too thin to continue this nonsense.

reply

You must be trolling. There is no way you can truly be this naive...
