Overrated

Seen it a dozen times as both a kid and adult.

Meh

reply

I appreciate it more as an adult. Relating to the parents and remembering childhood wonders. I don't think it's overrated but to each there own :)

reply

*their

reply

Its actually They're.

Furthermore,I just watched some of this classic again and i laughed pretty hard at that Rampaging Dog scene where they eat up the Turkey and then the family goes out for Duck Dinner, and the Dad goes,"Its Smiling at me",and then the Chef does the Neck-Chop. I was almost Rolling on the floor at both scenes. I love that loose string banjo playing in the background to go along with the rampaging bloodhounds.

reply

Its actually They're

No.

"To each they are own" is not what the poster that you corrected meant.

Merry Christmas, dumb@ss.

reply

Technically it's "his/her" or "its"

reply

no not really

reply

it is NOT , the word they're is short for "they are" making the sentence read

I don't think it's overrated but to each they are own....

the correct word is "their" as in: I don't think it's overrated but to each their own

reply

His/her or its

Each is singular. Now maybe if each was subbed for all, then it would be their.

reply

“It” is a pronoun describing an object, not a person. “They” and “their” is a pronoun applied to a group of people. “Each” is singular and must be paired with a singular object; I prefer “her or his.”

reply

false their works

ajb8303, only someone who is a self-hater would waste any time at all pointing out a simple and inconsequential error in punctuation or spelling or grammar. Only the very PETTY would ignore WHAT a person is saying and make a reply for HOW a person is saying something. It would never ENTER MY MIND to waste MY TIME and the time of others to do something that ridiculous. So stop it. Who cares besides those with a small mind.

Kay: Senators and presidents don't have men killed.
Michael: Oh, who's being naive, Kay?

reply

the OP's life is overrated ... lol

reply

You sound pretty upset about this.

reply

spencerthetracy, only a moron would state that someone who points out a grammar mistake is a "self-hater." How does mentioning a mistake indicate self hate? Your whole argument is idiotic and descriptivist. Descriptivism has ruined modern public education, producing semi-literates like yourself.

reply

spencerthetracy, the poster was correcting their own mistake, not pointing out someone else's. You're a real genius. I'm only sorry you probably won't see this reply.

reply

For something to enter your mind, you first must have a mind, and to conclude that you do would be assuming facts not in evidence.

But don’t trouble your bitty self with things like clear communication, clear thinking and reason.

reply

As a rule of thumb it usually goes like this. If many people seem to like something better than you do it's not that they are overrating it. It's more like you are underrating it.

He's taking the knife out of the Cheese!
Do you think he wants some cheese?

reply

or they don't get the genius of farkus.

reply

A dozen times? Man, are you ever a glutton for punishment. Once was more than enough for me.

reply

Who the hell would watch something a dozen times and say it's overrated, really.

reply

Someone who is being, in the words of Swartz, a smart ass.

reply

the man's bathrobe is overrated.

🎄Season's Greetings!🎄

reply

EXCELLENT POINT! It takes at least 20 posts to think THAT... but then, you're ALREADY stupid. ;)

Great movie missing only ONE POINT... A mention of my buddy Philip Grecian who wrote the theatrical script for this one (NOT the Broadway one, which he SHOULD have done.) Philip is one of my BEST friends. :)

If you end a play without a joke, you blew it!

reply

If we’re gonna pat your buddy Phil on the back, let’s have a hand for the great American humorist Jean Shepard, who wrote the original personal memoir that was published in Playboy.

Cannot say if it's "overrated"... perhaps not... but it's certainly not something I'm crazy about. Too damn loveable, the thing, cute and corny. Objectively though I guess it has an okay balance of humor and sentiment that it's going for without getting too obnoxious in either department; I can at least understand why it's so liked.

"facts are stupid things" Ronald Reagan

reply

It's an American classic! I can get through maybe one or two showings when they do the marathon every Christmas. When I was a kid I could watch maybe half of the marathon without getting bored.

reply

That was a slip of the tongue by Reagan. He immediately laughed at his goof and corrected himself. Do some research.
