I think that's b.s. And I've always liked playing as a half-elf. The idea that mixed race (even if in actuality it's mixed-species) is "inherently racist" is just nonsense.

I am so glad I went through my D&D years back in 1st edition AD&D times. If I was a middle schooler today and someone invited me to play the Woke SJW mess it has become I would probably laugh and go be a jock or something instead.
shareIf I remember correctly, the Drow “dark elves” were quite evil and were very distrustful of others not of their kind. But that was back in the early days of the game. 😀
shareYeah, but the Drow were jet black skinned with flowing white hair. NOT dark brown African skin color with kinky black hair. Drow were clearly a fantasy race with no relation at all to Africans or African Americans. I do not ever recall thinking of Drow as African or African adjacent back then.
