That dog...

is an amazing actor. Should have won an Academy award.

That was Jed. He was a unique-looking dog. A cross between a Canadian timber wolf and an Alaskan Malamute. He was in 2 White Fang movies (1991 and 1994) and 'The Journey of Natty Gann' (1985). He lived to be 18 years old.

Cool dog.

He actually just missed a chance of an Oscar by two years. There used to be a "best performance by an animal" or something similar but it was discontinued in 1980 because there wasn't a single notable performance in 1979. The media had already had a lot of fun with this category in the past and 1979 exasperated that even more so the decision was made.

Definitely a shame, that dog had a real presence to him

I don't believe you, Abigolcwock.

Was seriously considering making a thread about him until I saw yours. Any canine performance, the dog has heir eyes obviously riveted to their handler/trainer just out of frame. Sure there are a couple shots were he is doing so, but there are many where he moves, stops, switches focus and still hits hit marks like the utter pro he is, and seamlessly. Good dog.
