Scream Factory's Blu-ray rocks!

Great 2K remastering and looks stunning in HD! great sound too and beautiful coloring.

Wonderful extras too and a must own.

Good to know! I should pick up a copy. I'm really happy with my DVD of The Thing and it's "Making Of" special features but it's such an excellent movie, if the new release is that much better I think I ought to spring for it.

I'm not a huge fan of the new artwork for the Blu Ray cover but meh, they had to do something I suppose to separate it from other previous releases. That classic poster for The Thing is just so iconic though, in my opinion it belongs on the cover of any addition!

reply

The cover is reversible and includes the classic cover on the reverse side.

Who thinks the new remastering is so good you be hard to be convinced it was made in 1982 especially detail like the Doc's piercing?

We are very humbled and thrilled to have a segment included on the extras; "Back into the Cold: Revisiting the Filming Location of THE THING". Be sure to check it out!

I really wanted one of the LE posters but I think they sold out quickly just through pre-orders.

You're dumber than you think I think you are.

Shout Factory did a 4k remaster in November. https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/The-Thing-Blu-ray/212083/

reply

Would that remaster be better quality than the Arrow remaster? I haven't seen either one.

reply

I believe the Arrow to be superior.

From DVD Beaver

"The Arrow does look superior in-motion. It appears as though the Shout! Factory is horizontally compressed when compared to both the Arrow and the old Universal. Comparisons have value, as now - beside each other - the Shout! Factory can look brittle and thin"

reply

The Blu-Ray I have sucks. The quality is great, but all it has is the movie and director commentary track. No bonus features or even a trailer. My 1999 DVD has more.
