The Evil Dead (1981) vs Evil Dead II (1987)

I guess the second is a little slicker, but I prefer the first one.

I go back and forth on this. At the moment I'm leaning towards The Evil Dead (1981).

I have never liked TED2. I was pissed in the theatre as I loved TED. But TED2 was like a redo, mindfuk. I still dont get it.

They are very close for me. II had a bigger budget and is much more polished and funnier. I love the very low budget, kind of amateurish but also very inventive quality of the first, though.

I'd have to rate II just a little higher, though.

Gonna have to go with the first. Tight margin tho.

Evil Dead II

I only saw the second one once, and found it a bit ridiculous. I had enjoyed the first one so much, which was more serious, that I found the attempt at silly comedy a bit much.

Having said that, I enjoyed Army Of Darkness and the Ash vs The Evil Dead series, so maybe it'd be worth rewatching the second one and going into it knowing more what to expect. I might prefer it more.

As it stands though, I'll go the first one.
