Newhart easily. So many funny characters. George.....Michael and Stephanie....Jim and Chester...even lesser known ones like the frisky librarian. Too many more to list. And the greatest of all, Larry, Daryl and Darrel !!! Spell check on the Darell's please !

love Newhart more the BNS.

BNS was sometimes funny, though often extremely low key, some episodes were amusing, but not too many laugh out ones. I liked the interaction with the patients more than the home life.

Newhart is one of my favorite sitcoms of all time. It is much wackier and funnier than BNS. The cast of lovable eccentrics make for more big laughs. Bob's character is more short tempered in this one, since Kirk the liar and Michael the yuppie would often put him in embarrassing situations which were often hilarious.

The Bob Newhart Show(72). Absolute classic sitcom with great cast.

Hard choice. Both are excellent, but Newhart is the one I watch more, so that one wins in my book.

I will say Newhart right now. I grew up with Newhart. I've only seen a few of TBNS. However, I just bought both series and started with Newhart. It's one of the funniest shows I have ever seen. Bob Newhart gets lost with all the other great comedians, but in my book, he's right there with the best, Don Rickles.

I have to go with Bob Newhart show, I really love both but when watching some episodes of Newhart lately I've been surprised at myself because I've found I cant take Stephanie and Michael!
I can't even watch episodes in which they're a major part because they grate on my nerves so much nowadays.

Newhart! So many memorable characters.
It started sort of slow, but once, Leslie and Kirk were gone and Micheal and Stephanie joined the group, it finally took off.
I do confess that Kirk did grow on me a little around the time he left town.

Kirk was much better than Michael. He had great one liners. Michael and Stephanie were annoying. They are more annoying watching the reruns now than they were when I originally watched them. The first two seasons were great, but after that it was hit or miss. The last two seasons were horrendous.

"Michael and Stephanie were annoying."

They were hilarious. I don't know how anyone could find them annoying unless they didn't get the parody part of it. Stephanie was a parody of a spoiled rich girl and Michael was a parody of an '80s "yuppie." Yuppies and spoiled rich girls tend to be annoying in real life, but a well-done parody of them is funny.

Kirk was okay, but Michael was a huge improvement. Likewise, Stephanie was a huge improvement over Leslie.

Newhart for me. I didn't like the dentist in TBNS at all or Marcia Wallace's character that much. I did like Suzanne Pleshette but if both were on TV, I'd watch Newhart.
