Marion taking off her bra

Very racy for a Spielberg film, would you agree?

reply

Have you seen Schindler's List?

reply

Lol, I certainly wouldn’t call the nudity in Schindler’s List “racy”.

reply

Yeah compared to his other films it's a full fledged porno, not a good porno.

Well there is also the scene in Schindler's List where the title character has sex with a random woman. Don't get me wrong. It's a good movie. I was just mentioning that it had some sexual content. Though the Last Crusade has that implied sex scene between Elsa and Indy as well. So it's not something that was just done in Raiders. There's also the line later in Last Crusade where Indy's father admits that he also slept with Elsa.

reply

Yeah but that was so mild and childish I don't think that really counts. But yes you are right I forgot, there are several sex scenes between Schindler and those women he hired.

reply

Huh. I admit it's been a few years since I saw it. I only remember there being one sex scene. Also the stuff I mentioned about Last Crusade is more directed at the TC who seems to act like it's not Spielberg's thing to have sexual content in his movies when that isn't really the case. There is also the fact that he produced Animaniacs which also had some pretty racy stuff for a kid's show.

reply

It's not a sex scene, it's much like how it is in James Bond, they start making out and then the camera cuts to a new scene. That's another issue with Last Crusade it tried WAY too hard to be a James Bond movie.

reply

Last Crusade is, in my opinion at least, easily the best of all the Indy films. Whereas I've seen both Raiders and Temple a handful of times, I've seen Crusade more times than I can count. It's just one of those movies for me that's so much fun and always rewatchable.

And I don't think TLC is any more or less of a James Bond film than any of the other Indys.

reply

You see for me it is by far the worst, yes it is even worse than Crystal Skulls. The acting was atrocious, the action sequences were just slapstick, the characters were idiots, it was riddled with plot holes and lazy writing, and overall it was just boring.

Spielberg was so trying to make a James Bond movie which was pathetic seeing how he was basically conceding that his character couldn't stand on his own. There were some mild Bond references in the first two but it was beyond ridiculous in this one and I have no idea how Spielberg managed to take so many great actors (Ford, Connery, Glover, etc.) and he made them look horrible.

reply

Can't say I had any problems with the acting or the action sequences, or noticed any plot holes. I will agree however that at least one character was mishandled: Marcus Brody, who was indeed made out to be an idiot, when he probably shouldn't have been.

I think it's the most fun of all the films, and also has the most interesting storyline. The grail stuff is quite cool.

reply

Connery, Glover and Doody especially were all horrible in LC

The action sequences were boring especially that stupid boat chase, on a side note that's the kind of thing you'd see in a Bond movie not an Indiana Jones movie, again Spielberg was just trying to make a Bond film

As for plot holes: Indy and Henry somehow end up clear across Europe with no money, resources, transportation and the entire German army is actively hunting them down, that's a plot hole. Also the ending is impossible because Sallah's rifle somehow disappears yet the Nazis still let them go.

Yes Marcus was reduced to the Jar Jar Binks of the Indiana Jones franchise because they needed someone to appeal to the 4 years olds this movie was intended for.

The grail wasn't interesting, it was boring. This was the least fun Indiana Jones film.
