What happened to the property values?

I can't imagine the need for a federal prison being so great that they would abandon The WTC and the rest of Manhattan to make it a prison. I'd have suggested the Grand Canyon. Or ?

the soviet union attacked manhattan with gas bombs and destroyed the city

Communism took over the USA, so the real estate in Manhattan is the same value as out in the boonies.

I'm sure there were a ton of undesirables in New York already so all they had to do was build a wall around them like the Warsaw ghetto. Transporting convicts to the middle of nowhere like the grand canyon wouldn't be cost effective.

Criminal infestation was probably so high, catching them individually would be impossible (would take ages)- that's why cordoning the island was the simplest solution.

what about the non crims cordoned in?

reply

They got the free pass after being vetted.

Detroit.

Perfect sh*thole.

It's just a movie. Would you go see Escape from the Grand Canyon?

reply

Lol!

Actually I probably would. They'd have to build makeshift rafts and load them up with primative weapons and try to break through highly fortified and well armed dams. Marauders would be halfway up the canyon walls, waiting to roll huge boulders on invaders below. Scavengers would set traps for fish and birds, trying to live and fight another day. Eventually, someone strong enough would have to somehow scale that last 2000 feet..maybe a crafty fellow could build a primative hang glider out of float-sum and fly their way to freedom, with Wilbur as their stoic companion.
