One question I have

How were Darth Vader and the Stormtroopers able to get into the base if the shield hadn’t been disabled yet?

reply

They went in after the main generator had been destroyed.

reply

No they had entered the base before Veers blew up the generator . Watch the scene again

reply

I did watch it, on YouTube, but admittedly it was only part of the battle, or edited. I must have missed something.

reply

Yeah as Han and Leia are leaving you hear someone over the intercom say “imperial troops have entered the base” then in the next scene Veers blows the shield generator

reply

Was the wampa also waiting for the shield to be destroyed? I guess they were more intelligent than they looked.....

reply

Wasn't there a bunch of wampas kept in a storage room in the base? I recall a deleted scene where we see the room. Or maybe I'm thinking of that really early script by Leigh Brackett.

reply

You mean this? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tVcn8dRdMbo

I wonder why the Rebels would allow wampas to be kept in their base?

reply

They're too nice to slaughter them all, but wanted them to be out of harm's way until they left.

reply

Slow ship penetrates the shield... oh wait, wrong movie.

reply

Please stay on topic with the correct movie. You could have just deleted your comment instead of saying wrong movie

reply

How could the Battle Droids walk through the forcefield which turned their blaster shots? Physical things can pass through pass through forcefields, laser bolts can't.

reply

Then why did the Endor shield have to be deactivated so that Han and everyone else could get down to the moon?

reply

Didn't you see the briefing with the CGI schematic? The Endor shield encompassed miles around the shield generator, up into space, and around the Death Star, protecting the whole area. Otherwise, any ship attempting to enter it would blow up.

reply

And if the same type of shield was around the base how could Vader get in when the shield was still up?

reply

It probably wasn't the same type of shield. As I recall, the Imperials detected the Hoth energy shield and simply said that it was strong enough to deflect any bombardment. I'm guessing orbital bombardment here, so the Hoth shield was basically like a giant umbrella, but the Imperials could still land AT-ATs outside the perimeter and march their way in, "under the shield", so to speak. The Imperials still had to destroy the generator to deactivate the shield altogether and then start bombarding the base from orbit.

Just my guess.

reply

Well I appreciate your speculation
