These movies were released around the same time. Which one has held up over the course of time?
shareI watch Caddyshack once a year. I only watch airplane about once every seven years. Personally I preferred Caddyshack even though Airplane has better story structure.
shareAirplane was without a doubt the one which had more laughs at the time. But I can't help but think somebody 20 or younger wouldn't get a portion of the Airplane jokes these days. They just don't apply anymore. But even then, I still think it would have more laughs than Caddyshack in the end.
shareBoth came out in 1980, and both are comedy classics.
In terms of holding up, they are equal.
Airplane has a little more universal appeal, where as Caddyshack tends to be more wacky.
Having said that, Airplane 2 has held up a heck of a lot better than Caddyshack 2…
Airplane is still very hilarious.
Caddyshack is plenty of fun, I love Rodney but it's mostly nostalgic appreciation for the movie now.
