Han did NOT shoot first!

Han shot ONLY!

reply

That's correct. Greedy doesn't even get a shot off as Han guns him down from under the table. But that was before George started his endless tinkering and we all know where that lead.

reply

By Greedy do you mean Greedo? Because I thought George was Greedy. ;)

"Dan Marino should die of gonorrhea and rot in hell. Would you like a cookie son?"

reply

LOL, sorry typo. Yes I meant Greedo.

reply

Oh, I just thought that was a nickname for Greedo and I couldn't help but make a little joke about George. I wasn't actually trying to be the "you spelled that wrong" guy.

"Dan Marino should die of gonorrhea and rot in hell. Would you like a cookie son?"

"But that was before George started his endless tinkering and we all know where that lead."

It lead to dozens of youtube 'react' videos, where people are 'impressed what they were able to do in the seventies' when a 1998-rendered slowly walking turd blocks the action or when a useless pan of a boring CGI town is boring the viewer instead of showing what the movie originally showed.

It lead to a truckload of frustration and yelling at the screen, when these youtubers are so impressed and adore those stupid edits so much, and don't even QUESTION the shooting scene, and watch the added Hutt-negotiation scene, like it's not the stupidest atrocity ever put in a movie, etc.

It leads to banging head against table, screaming, "WHY DON'T THEY SEE IT, WHY DON'T THEY REALIZE IT, WHY DON'T THEY KNOW IT!!", and then yelling at the screen: "Can't you see that WASN'T made in the seventies, those beasts the stormtroopers ride WERE NOT THERE IN THE ORIGINAL!! WATCH THE DESPECIALIZED EDITION!!"

Only two youtubers I know ACTUALLY made a point to watch the Despecialized Edition.. Decker Shado and Shanelle Riccio.

But everyone else, HOLY COW is it frustrating to watch their reactions, because they don't even question that a computer-rendered load of feces moving on the screen was made in the seventies. Well, IT WASN'T, and they should know better, but they adore and admire the crap out of those crapturds, so..

.. THANKS A LOT, GEORGE!! THANKS SO DMN MUCH, YOU EGOTISTICAL PIG THAT LIKES TO RUIN WHAT WAS ONCE SOMETHING PRETTY GOOD!!

reply

Damn, I was preparing an epic response as to how wrong you are in my mind, and was going to release my anger upon thine very essence... you got me.

Damn. Well done.

Yes, there's no 'first', when there's only one shot.

However, your grammar isn't correct - I realize why you destroyed grammar to illustrate a point, though, so I'll let it pass. This time.

I have a VHS from 1992, I think, and Han does shoot Greedo without him firing at Han first. Does this mean that my copy is completely unaltered?

Thanks.

reply

Yes, the alterations didn’t start until 1997 with the exception of in A New Hope the original VHS included the “A New Hope” title and it had extended dialogue when C-3PO is explaining how Obi Wan can deactivate the tractor beam. Neither of these were in the theatrical cut.

reply

This is the copy I have and A New Hope is not displayed. I’m glad I have an original, and thanks for the quick reply.

reply

Yes that is very close to the original aside from the A New Hope title in the opening crawl and C3PO’s extended dialogue.

However on this DVD set you can get the actual theatrical version.

Unfortunately with the aspect ratio it’s very hard to see what’s going on so you may have to zoom in or something.

reply

If your copy doesn't have all the extra cgi shit plastered over the Mos Eisley introduction scene then it's probably unaltered.

reply

I watched it this morning and no, it does not have that part in it.

reply

Sounds like you have one of the early remasters before the release of the Special Editions, probably still not completely unaltered but infinitely preferable to the Special Edition releases.

reply

Yeah I always thought that was odd that people kept bitching “Han shot first”, Greedo never got a shot off at all.
