Geez, what was the time frame here???

OK am I the only one who notices that there don't seem to be any lapses in time - except for the overnight jump after R2's escape from the farm. Everything seemed to happen in real time. They gave no indication otherwise. So from the time Luke searches for R2, he gets pummeled by the sandpeople, rescued by Obi Wan, his family gets killed, they head to Mos Eisley, meet Han and Chewy, learn the ways of the Force, get captured at the Death Star, escape from it and destroy it.

All in a day.

I cleaned the living room, had a sandwich, did laundry and played with my cat.

Obviously it's not all in real time, we're just spared the boring details of Luke and Obi-Wan hauling off to Mos Eisley and selling Luke's speeder, Luke's awkward first lessons in the Force on the Falcon, the time on the rebel base where someone shows Luke how the controls of an X-wing fighter work, etc. There must have been time for a couple of meals and a nap, at least.

So yes, everything happens very suddenly, but not THAT suddenly!

Real time would mean it all takes place in 121 minutes.

I'd say it happens over the span of a few days. Maybe a week.

Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi are the same way. The timeframe is hard to figure out, especially since there's a lot of time in space where night and day are impossible to figure out.
