Report: Pete Davidson receives unfair, preferential treatment on SNL

After Davidson complained about his experiences on Saturday Night Live in an interview with Charlamagne tha God, sources at Saturday Night Live fired back via Page Six. Not only did Lorne Michaels allow Davidson to take a few episodes off to shoot Suicide Squad, but an insider says that he was allowed an "unheard of" week off to attend a friend's wedding. “Pete has a pretty cushy gig, to say the least,” another source told Page Six. “The cast isn’t into him,” said yet another. “He’s just there — he doesn’t add much.” Page Six notes that Davidson considers Michaels, who arranged for Davidson to get help after his 2018 suicide scare, a "father figure." Another source adds: “Lorne recognizes that Pete is enormously valuable to the show. The nature of any ensemble cast is to make use of each person’s unique comedy style. The show works with cast members’ best interests in mind.”

He is the least funny person on SNL in my lifetime; possibly ever.

300. ENTERTAINMENT LAWYER 02/25 **2**

This late night actor is always on the edge of being fired and only his relationship with the showrunner has kept his position when anyone else would have been fired. Even that is on its last legs after several burned bridges. He acts like the star of the show, rather than the unnecessary bit player he really is. Pete Davidson says he’s outgrown SNL and misses rehearsal ; NBC no longer wants to work with him

"I personally think I should be done with that show 'cause they make fun of me on it," Pete said.

I'm, like, cold-open, like political punchlines ... I'm like 'Weekend Update' jokes. Not like, when I'm not there, they'll be like, 'Ha, ha, ha, but Pete's a f--king jerk face.' And you’re like, ‘Whose side are you on?’" Pete explained. "I have a weird feeling in that building where I don’t know whose team they’re playing for, really — if I’m the joke or I’m in on the joke.”

In the interview, Pete also admitted that he feels like the writers think he's "f--king dumb" and complained that they paint him as a "big dumb idiot” due to the number of jokes made at his expense. He later added that working at SNL is "scary," and said he had a fear of getting fired for the first three years.

By the sounds of it, Pete's comments may have ruffled some feathers at the network. According to Page Six, Pete was notably absent from the SNL afterparty and his co-stars were not happy about his recent tell-all interview. The publication also claimed that his comments have upset people at NBC, and as a result, "they don’t want to work with him."

Right now, his future on SNL is one big question mark. But either way, there's no question that Pete already has plenty on his plate. The comedian recently released a stand-up special called Alive from New York on Netflix, will appear in the Suicide Squadsequel, and is set to star in the upcoming Hulu film Big Time Adolescence.

Pete's dead weight. If he wants respect and good characters on the show, he needs to write them himself. Show's always been that way.

Hell, none of the peeps on snl are funny in the last few years. I recall when the dude from the lonely island departed, a few other talented peeps left around that time as well - what remained was a mess and newcomers didn't help.

I don't want to blame the actors/comedians.... I'm sure they could do decent stuff, but their writing and that of other writers on the show is crap. Pete is not the star, but there's really nobody on the show that stands out, since all of the skits are crappy.

He's the funniest and most interesting to watch person on the show.
