Never going to be seen?

They seem to have deep-sixed this show, which is a shame. It was one of those awesome funky cop shows from the 70s, with a killer theme by Sammy Davis Jr.

That is indeed a shame. Would love to see this, and Kojak, in high def.

Seeing the 70's run of Columbo on blu-ray has been a revelation. A lightning bolt from the past.

Yes it is a shame. Robert Blake did so good with this show and character. It is so sad that he never believed that and thought doing the show was something bad for his career. But I think that was part of his thinking because of the parental abuse he suffered. I do understand and agree with his talking about how tiring making a series is and how the continual nature if a series is tiring and sometimes suffers from bad writing. Maybe studio executives should try doing television series partly like they do them in the U.K and partly like is done here. That way the cast would have time to do other things and there would be time to make better scripts for future episodes and having fans not see the show for a few months to a year might make them want to see the show more when it returns.

We're not likely to see any Robert Blake or O.J. Simpson projects in reruns again. It makes less sense in Blake's case, because while it was clear Simpson did the crime, there was reasonable doubt regarding Blake. He seems to have been permanently cancelled, nonetheless.
