I hated that fat guy in the dragon costume who grabbed St Howie at the end (spoilers)

He was only a minor character but the way he toyed with Howie and the way he took it upon himself to grab Howie at the end made me think that he was some goody 'I'm special' guy that everyone adored. He was probably the town snitch. I used to enjoy beating those kinds of people up in the playground at school.

Made me chuckle there

I was surprised when he approached Howie and Howie didn't swing for that gut. I guess there was little or no point in fighting, but I'd want to go down swinging, and I bet Puffy the Mundane Dragon would've folded like a deck chair.

reply

I certainly would have. I'll bet they would all have a day of reflection for Puffy the Mundane Dragon in future years if Howie did do that because obviously, Puffy was so special. There was just something about that guy that really angered me.

I think that Howie put up less of a fight than he eventually did, purely down to a 'plot contrivance' (and little else)

reply

True. All Howie had to do was punch Mr Lard, the Dragon and he would have folded. I also believe he could have fought his way out of that situation.

Yep, he could easily have prevented fatbeard from carrying him up the wicker-steps. I’d be frantically kicking, jolting and eye-gouging until he fell off.

Then I’d go for Lord Summerisle and shove him off the cliff.

The film needed to wrap up, of course, but I’d at least have Howie put up a fight and then he gets clubbed over the head so he’s only just awakening from unconsciousness as he’s being carried.
