Strawberry Blonde Bookstore Girl In The Film Shamus (1973)

Strawberry Blonde Bookstore Girl In The Film Shamus (1973) was played by Kay Frye.

She was 7 years older than Burt but played a young girl very well.

She really filled out her sweater and glasses.

Here are a few photos of her.

If Kay Frye's IMDb page is accurate, she did a few bit parts as a youngster (7-8 years old) and didn't get into acting again until her early to mid 40s?

Now, didn't they tape Dark Shadows in NYC? I ask because it seems very possible for a LA kid to get a few non-speaking parts just by showing up and she lived and died in Southern California, according to the bio; but acting must have meant enough to her to move to the Big Apple for a time?

IMDb often gets things wrong. The Kay Frye in Shamus was not 45 years old. Anyone can see that. Perhaps there were two actresses called Kay Frye and IMDb didn't notice.

reply

Considering the fact that they just met, he certainly seduces her very easily.

It's very doubtful that would happen in real life.

reply

Nope, in real life, the female book clerk would threaten to call the cops, if he didn't leave.

It's a take-off on an identical scene in The Big Sleep with Bogart and Dorothy Malone.

reply

...and what a scene it was!

There was a similar character in "Kiss Me Deadly." Mr. Evello's (Paul Stewart) sister... Remember, with the "high beams?"

You're confusing today's propagandized neo-"feminist" man-hating women with the freer-thinkers of the 70s.

I was entering my prime in the 70s and can report that yes, such quick sexual hookups were common. If I could do it, a handsome stud like McCoy would have no problems... esp since he was all about Kierkegaard and especially into Kant. :D

And I agree Kay Frye's character would give me more "hoffnung und sorge" than Dyan Cannon's "Alexis." Nothing against Dyan. She did great in this film and was perfect for the role.

The first link is clickbait/spammage from HELL

the google image search kinda spooked me out with those fishbowl glasses and 70s librarian hairdo. She's like that character they'd cast in Three's Company that Jack goes on a blind date with only to find out that she poisons men and dumps their bodies in Topanga Canyon.
