By far my favorite song in the movie is the first song of the movie heaven on their minds. I think personally best song in the whole movie.

"Superstar" is one of my earliest memories. When I was a little boy living in Post, TX my parents had a copy of the original cast album--it was on 4 records and came in a box. (Yes, I am THAT old!) My older sister says when our parents went out in the evenings and left us with a babysitter we used to play the album on our stereo and sing along with the records and my sister and the babysitter used to fight over who got to be Jesus and who got to be Judas. :) My favorite songs from the show have always been "Pilate's Dream", "I Don't Know How to Love Him" (after I came out and learned a bit more about the "gay lifestyle", one line from that song really had a new meaning for me: "And I've had so many men before/in very many ways/He's just one more..."), "Gethsemane" and of course "Superstar".

Pilate's Dream

It's a very short song (1:28) but very beautiful in a mysterious way. It also gives the tone to the role of Pilate in the whole story. It's something new - I don't know any mention to a Pilate prophetic dream in the scriptures - and it states the inevitability of what came next.

Everything's Alright (Very sexy song. I loved it)

The Last Supper (Great song)

39 Lashes (obviously not for lyrical reasons. The tune is a cool 70s jam and when I was in a band a couple of years ago, we did a cover to it).

"Gethsemene" is probably my favorite song in the musical as well...I used to sing it in Church for our Maundy Thursday services.

Hey hey, you you
I don't like your girlfriend
No way, no way
I think you need a new one

reply

Everything's Alright, the original recording, which was done justice in the film.

My favorite (having been in two productions of the show) will always be "Could We Start Again Please". I love the way the voices overlap and the harmonies are spectacular.

My 3 cents (wasn't it worth more then 2?)

4-The last supper
5-Hosanna

My friend were watching this movie around easter, and she had some palm-like things in her livingroom, so we danced around singing Hosanna and waving the palm-like things while it was happening in the movie.

Nobody wrote Judas' Death! Comrades, it's great and Carl Anderson does it really heartbreaking. I love how he sings: "I have been splattered with innocent blood".

I completely agree. Carl Anderson's performance is heart breaking. I guess he had a career with this role, but I would have loved to see him in more movies or making records as he had a phenomenal voice and great acting skills. His death scene is incredibly moving. He should have won an Oscar for this!
