The Emmy-winning two-season 1973-74 cartoon felt different with "alien characters, unusual destinations and its own sense of humor," says Bonnie Burton. "And it broke new ground giving female characters and Native Americans more of the spotlight."

When these first showed on up TV I was skeptical and held these cartoons in contempt, but I have to admit that when I took the time to watch a few of them, some of the plots were as good or better than the original series.

I am watching Star Trek Continues this week having found it on YouTube, and it is great as well.

I like ST:C and ST:TAS better than the subsequent series and most of the movies.

My 2 favorite episodes were when Spock traveled back in time and helped his younger self, and when the Enterprise had to stop a planet-eating cloud from destroying more worlds.
