Good that Some Things Left Out

No shapeshifting whatsoever, no disintegrating of remains. The only thing I wish they had changed is having the vampire partially alive as it never made since for them to be totally dead and still say it was the very person who died, but then again in this movie they never said he was a reanimated corpse so that means he might have been similar to the vampire's of Matheson's own novel, "I am Legend" or the vampires from the 1993-96 TV series "Forever Knight" which had vampires who also did not shapeshift, remains did not disintegrate.

The vampire did not talk once in this, nor did we get his backstory. Just awful

From memory, but I am pretty sure that in the closing monologue Kolchak mentioned that the autospy showed that the body had been dead for several years.

That might have been why he was NOT charged with murder... not sure about that part.

Man, it is hilarious the shit I remember across decades, when I can't remember my co-workers names. (sometimes)

That was in the closing monologue of the TV series episode. Here they blackmailed him with a murder charge because it would have ruined all of them if the details came out.

Ahh, interesting.

Assholes in charge, more concerned about their bottom line than the existence of a supernatural predatory that feeds on humans?

Fairly realistic.

When they revealed his backstory, didn't they mention that he had disappeared for a few years. Most likely that was when he was changed. As for changing his identity, I think of that as Skorzeny just being arrogant.
