Same universe as The Monkees

Davy Jones who was in the musical group The Monkees and starred as himself on that show appears in the Brady Bunch (and the Brady Bunch movie with two other members of The Monkees), so are both The Monkees and The Brady Bunch in the same universe?

reply

So what

reply

It means the Brady Bunch is technically a spin-off of The Monkees and there could be a way to revive The Monkees through the Brady Bunch and Vice versa

Makes me wonder if The Brady kids watched The Monkees on TV or have all their albums since Marcia is Davy’s #1 fan and what he is recording in the episode is his first solo album, so Marcia must have listened to the Monkees albums from before.

reply

No. If they were in the same universe, the Davy Jones that interacted with Marsha would be the character from The Monkees television show. That's not who interacted with Marsha. The person who interacted with Marsha was the actor and singer from The Monkees television show. And if Marsha really did listen to those records and watch the show, then that would be because that's what was on TV and on the radio at the time. Same as if she had watched any other television show or listen to any other popular songs of the day.

This is a hilarious mind boggling thread. But I understand his point.

We assume the Bradys lived in the same world as us regular folks. So they would see The Monkees tv show just like everybody else. The universe The Monkees lived in on their own tv show was a different universe than the Bradys' universe. The OP's mistake is he's assuming that The Monkees on tv are in the same universe as The Bradys fictional family on tv. They're different universes.
