Overrated. Filmbros was the worst.
The visuals are good, but so are Avatar 2's visuals. That doesn't make it an interesting, let alone good, movie.

shareMaybe you had to be around in 1968 in order to appreciate it?
shareMe no like contemplative movie. Me want big explosions. Bang, boom, pow!

Things have changed. Once upon a time the audience for 2001 was a mix of film aficionados (some of them fairly pretentious) and fans of science fiction. The film is now available to a vast new audience of people brought up on the concept of "sci-fi", a category which seems to contain most fantasy, superhero and Kaiju films along with the increasingly silly Star Trek movies and the always science fantasy of Star Wars.
2001 is not comparable to most of those. It is simply different. I'm telling you that for some of us it is still very interesting and it is good. Your opinion is just... your opinion.
It's about so much more than the visuals, though. It's more like a symphonic tone poem that's meant to be experienced more than analyzed—although it's certainly open to extensive analysis & always has been, of course.
shareMichael Bay's filmography is always available.
