Lucy Cries Wolf *Spoilers*

Do you think the other three ever found out that Lucy was actually telling the truth? Is there a bonus scene on the DVD?

reply

No. And anyway, Lucy got her just desserts.

reply

Actually it's possible that they found out that Lucy was telling the truth. Those burglars were in the Mertz's building. It's possible that they robbed an apartment after they tied up Lucy. in that case, the people who were robbed would've called the police. it would have been in the newspaper.

Lucy would've been able to say, "See! I told you so,"

But after her terrible behavior, she scarcely deserved to be vindicated!

reply

While I will say that Lucy was awful in this episode, I don't think she deserved what happened to her.

reply

I agree, even though Lucy was acting crazy, I always feel bad at the end. I hardly ever watch this episode because of how Lucy was treated haha.

reply

I rarely or ever feel bad for Lucy. She usually gets what she deserves. haha

In this instance she frightened the heck out of her best friends and her husband. The Mertzes came racing over as soon as they thought she was in trouble.Even though she saw how worried the Mertzes were, she did it AGAIN a few minutes later!

Her objective was to test Ricky's love for her, so why scare her best friends too?

It's a very funny episode with Lucy at her self-centered best. But after telling several whoppers in one day, why would she expect anyone to come to her rescue when she cried wolf in the hallway?

Lucy wasn't "treated" bad in this episode. She treated everyone else bad.

reply

Agree, PJ. Lucy at her most self-centered.

What's weird is that I just watched this episode last night, and was reminded of how much Lucy "tests"
Ricky at the breakfast table. He repeatedly says he'd come home for her - "right between the 'baba'
and the lu.' Yet this isn't enough, of course.

Two notable things about this episode:

Lucy is gorgeously attired in the final scene.

Love how the hallway is wide and elaborate with a staircase and chair and lamp, but is merely a flat
wall when seen from inside the apartment.

reply

I love Lucy's outfit in the final scene.

Yes, the hallway does not match what is seen from inside the front door. When the Ricardo door is open, there is a wall facing it. In this scene there is a wide open space.

I've noticed that same thing in a lot of TV shows since the advent of the (rewindable) VHS tape. haha The audience just has to accept the fact that a certain amount of space is needed to accommodate the action. And it doesn't always line up with reality.
Also, to the left of the Ricardo's door is the window Lucy crawled out of and the ledge. In this instance, a staircase is directly to the left of the door.

I enjoy discovering those inconsistencies. I've recently been watching the first season of The Big Valley on DVD. Heath has the bedroom right at the top of the stairs. That alone seemed odd to me. You'd think he'd get a back bedroom or a guest room since he was a newcomer to the family. Seems like the front bedrooms would be occupied.

The door to that room faces the railing in the hallway and overlooks the downstairs foyer.
But there have been scenes where there's a knock on his door. Heath opens the door and there is a wall facing his door! Where'd the wall come from? haha
Obviously there is no "upstairs" bedroom. It's a set. That's just a door at the top of the stairs which is also just a set. So an actual bedroom is not overlooking the foyer. Also, from the viewer's POV (facing the door from inside the room) there is a window in the bedroom to the right of the door. There should be a bedroom on the other side of that wall!

reply

The suspension of disbelief is that Lucy could not have tied herself up that way and gagged herself. There are other times when Lucy takes the blame for something, when it's not completely deserved
