This time looking at YouTube numbers:

Ariana
Positions (Official Video) - 362 million views
34+35 (Official Video) - 228 million views
thank u, next (Official Video) - 669 million views

Taylor
cardigan (Official Video) - 93 million views
willow (Official Video) - 87 million views
lover (Official Video) - 162 million views

Taylor had her peak around the 1989 era and has been on decline ever since. Ariana has supplanted her as the most popular act now.

And Thriller sold 70 million copies. The point the OP is making is about current popularity, not an achievement in the past. They're both talented pop stars, but Grande seems to be more popular right now, even though Swift has a more recent new release.

Ariana already left Taylor in the dust. Taylor is old news. The only ones Ariana is "competing" with now are pretenders to the throne like Olivia Rodrigo and Billie Eilish. Both of whom won't amount to much in the long run.

I was going to say... Ariana is great. In some ways prefer her to Taylor Swift, but she'll never come close to achieving the popularity of Swift. Like it or not, Taylor Swift has achieved that once-in-a-generation level of fame formerly enjoyed by the likes of Michael Jackon, The Beatles, Bing Crosby, and a select few others.

I know I'm not her target audience, but I've never heard any of her songs, ever. mind you I've only heard one of Bings (I think White Christmas was by him?)
