How did this windbag ever get a pulpit?

Sorry, I don't want to be preached at for an a hour.

Tucker Carlson is obnoxious but at least he builds a convincing argument and makes you think.

I think Watters peaked as the man on the street asking simple questions to folks and them blowing minds with their answers. I could watch those things on YouTube for hours! Side-splittingly funny. They're basically all gone, and Watters is just left with a show where he doesn't seem to have a lot of control over it. He can't honestly want Lindsay Graham on his show. And I can't stand those shows with the dumb blonde segment, and his has one.

He's not as good as he used to be.

Hahaha. Fox and the dumb blondes. The only one who had a brain was fascist Ann Coulter and you don't see her anymore.

reply

You must be talking about Kat Timpf. She's actually pretty intelligent.

reply

That's Gutfeld's blonde. I tuned into Gutfeld a month or two ago and was surprised to hear her. When she started out, she was stupid and giggly. Turns out that was an act, but it was good enough to turn me off of her completely. Tyrus isn't a complete idiot, either. He did a good impersonation of one today on The Five. He called the armorer on a set a "gunsmith." This, from his extensive work on Hollywood sets. O....kay. 🙄

reply

Agree with the above poster, he was better when he did that sidewalk/street thing. I'm not sure why Fox gave him a show. He's not that entertaining.

reply

They should have kept that segment with him on this show. That was the best part of his spiel. That segment is still featured on his show, but with a different person asking the questions. And it's just not as good. But still get some laughs from it though.

reply

I think he said he can't go out randomly on the street like that anymore. He's too well-known and will get harassed, and possibly physically assaulted. I'm sure that's true.

reply

Of course, anyone's going to get "recognized" with a film crew, lighting, and a microphone. The same clods that would harass him would harass anyone who had film crews with the Fox logo on their windbreakers, caps, and cameras.

reply

The Fox logo alone will undoubtedly attract some people who have bad intentions, but some random guy with a Fox windbreaker won't attract anywhere near the attention of someone like Jesse Waters or Tucker Carlson.

reply

They used to send crews into the heart of rioters during that Summer of Love we had a couple of years ago. They took bodyguards with them. Not enough, as it turned out. But if they kept the logos to the mikes, and kept the crowd back, who would know Jesse Watters from Tucker Carlson or Brian Kilmeade or just some guy named Joe at a distance?

I think it has more to do with Watters thinking he's come up in the world and doesn't have to do the Man on the Street thing anymore. I could be wrong....

reply

The Peter Principle. He was very, very good at the last thing he did, so let's give him more responsibility. He's okay on The Five, mainly because of his producer, Johnny (who does the man on the street thing on Watters' Primetime). Johnny does all the research, and Watters comes out looking like a genius. But The Five is like a series of sprints. An hour-long show is like a four mile run. Watters is great in sprints. They should let him do what he's actually good at.

Martha McCallum was doing the hard news show The Story in that time slot, but Fox wasn't happy with the ratings. So they moved Martha to afternoons and decided to add another opinion show to their late-day lineup.

For awhile the show had a rotating set of hosts, but I guess they wanted a permanent host and figured Jesse had paid his dues.

reply

Yes, they were all being tried out for that time slot for that show. Each one of them would be the host for a week and then it just kept rotating through a bunch of different people. His must have gotten the highest rankings since he already had a large following from his Waters world and man on the street spiel. I did kind of like when they had the weekly rotating hosts though. It's nice to have a change up like that sometimes.

reply

You may be right about the ratings.

Yeah, I didn't mind the rotating hosts, and of the crew that they consistently had flow through the studio I wouldn't have minded seeing Rachel Campos-Duffy get the permanent slot. But then again, I don't really mind Jesse either.

If I had my way though, Martha would've stayed on the air. I liked her show a lot and think that another hour of opionion programming is unnecessary. The Story was a much better use of the hour than Primetime is.

reply

Haha Rachel and Sean. The Real World!!!! Hers was the best season of that show by far.

I hate that they took Shannon Bream off her nightly show and stuck her on Sunday with one show. She should have had both shows.

reply

I had no idea she was on The Real World, LOL. That's hilarious.

And I agree about Bream. Both Martha and Shannon should've stayed right where they were.

reply

Yes she was season 4 and Sean was season 6.
