Kobe was one of the greats. I grew up a Golden State Warriors fan and STH, but still had admiration for him as a person even though disliked him as a Laker. One time the Warriors made a free throw and was up by one with around six seconds left. Lakers call time out in order to freeze the shooter. I can't remember who the Warriors coach was, but he called for an intentional miss. Usually, you do this when it's < 5 seconds left on the clock.

The shot clanged off the front of the rim and who do I see going up high to get the rebound? It was Kobe who snared the rebound. Next thing you know he transitions down the court with the ball and he either hit a mid-range J or drove in for the layup. It was pandemonium. The Warriors were bad at the time as it was the owner Christopher Cohan days. What a putz of an owner he was. Anyway, time runs out and Lakers win by one.

I also saw Kobe when he first played a pre-season game. The arena was packed to see what this 18-yr old kid could do. He took a jump shot and I never saw a young player get up so high and quickly. Right then you knew he had a special talent. I was impressed how quickly he got the shot off as he appeared to hang in the air. Yes, he made the basket.

Anyway, I'll just follow him now for his Mamba Mentality. Since he retired, he seems to be one of the good guys helping other players and giving them pointers.

Also, much sadness for his daughter having her life cut so short. She looks like a doll. So beautiful and looks like a sweet girl. I think Kobe raised her right.

My condolences to the Bryant family and friends. It was a sad day Sunday and we are still trying to recover. RIP Kobe and Gianna. Both of you will be missed.
