Roger Waters has rerecorded The Dark Side of the Moon without Pink Floyd

I wrote The Dark Side of the Moon," Waters tells the Telegraph's Tristram Fane Saunders. "Let’s get rid of all this ‘we’ crap! Of course we were a band, there were four of us, we all contributed – but it’s my project and I wrote it. So... blah!”

Just when you thought he couldn't be more of a dickhead.... Old Rog never seems to disappoint in coming off like more of an asshole.

The song or the album?
Waters is a talented guy, and politically his heart is semi in the right place, but he goes on and on against Israel like real ant-semite. He's such a know it all. He should just chill out because he really doesn't know that much, he's famous for making psychedelic rock songs ... so what?

reply

No Gilmour, no interest.

reply

Exactly. Waters goes on & on about how he "wrote" it all on his own & the others did "nothing", but that's not true. Truth is, Gilmour & Wright (& to an extent even Mason) had more to do with the musical end result than Waters did. He probably didn't even play Bass on half the songs on the album. Gilmour did.

I cant say i dont wanna hear this version. I love waters music as well as the rest of the floyd crew

Nearly 80yo Roger singing lead on songs like Time, Money, etc? I don't think so. And what is he going to do with Great Gig In the Sky, the music of which was solely composed by Rick Wright? (And decades later, rightfully co-credited to Clare Torry for her improvised wordless vocal)

Gee, I always thought it was agreed that DSOTM was the most total group album of all the Floyd’s work, the one where everyone was excited by the project, ideas were going from everyone, and they all new even before it was ‘finished’ that it was something very special…….of course the war between Gilmore and Waters has been going on for a long, long time now, but I wish they could find a way to get along, let’s face it, sooner rather than latter one will pass away, and hey, maybe they don’t care, but once someone dies it’s too late.

Nick Mason, in an interview last year or before, lamented that these two nearly-80yo grown men keep getting into these constant public battles like school kids.

reply

Doesn't matter. No one is gonna care this time. The world is a different place. It will get lost in the days of over produced music, tv and film ..

reply

It certainly won't sell 24 million & stay on the album charts for 700+ weeks.

I have to admit I'd love to hear this rerecording. Just think if only half the songs turn out "better" than the 1973 originals, then we're talking about one of the greatest albums in history!
