Stop making movies.

I just finished watching "The Matrix Resurrections" and can safely say Lana hasn't made a good movie since the first Matrix film. Only two good films in total if you include "Bound".

I loved Sense8

reply

I haven't seen it and I hear it's good but I'm only talking movies. But also the episodes were directed by different people.

Side note: Matrix Resurrections angered me.

reply

I know a lot of people didn't like Sense8 because of the orgies. Maybe she should stick to writing? I havent' seen Resurrections yet, but I don't dislike a lot of movies of hers that people hate.

i've always thought cloud atlas looked interesting and have almost clicked play on it a bunch of times...but yeesh, that running time is a bit much for me.

reply

I skipped Cloud Atlas as well, but that had a lot to do with the cast for me, as well as the runtime. Even if her movies aren't always the greatest, I appreciate their originality. They are also usually visually stunning. Sometimes I can like style over substance.

reply

Skip it, Damo. You'll regret it.

reply

ha, i almost want to take that as a personal challenge....i'm almost annoying & contrarian enough to make myself sit through all three grinding, endless hours and make myself like it. just to be difficult.

but i really can't be bothered. the risk/reward ratio on that movie seems way off.

i don't even like the matrix, honestly. as far as ambitious, boundary expanding sci-fi goes, i much preferred dark city from that year.

bound is a tidy, tense thriller, & the only wachowski thing i've truly enjoyed. if she made another movie like that, i'd be there.

(not that i've seen everything they've done...i haven't seen speed racer, jupiter ascending, sense8, & shouldn't assume i wouldn't like them. but i really haven't liked the other stuff i have seen).

reply

Correct me if I'm wrong, but this Wachowski brother had nothing at all to do with this film.

reply

This is the one that wrote and directed it.

reply

Whoops, you're right. I'll give the other one props for having the sense not to affiliate with this film.

reply

When they did interviews all those years ago, I always felt he was the cooler one with the better ideas.

reply

Ι think WB and Joel Silver were the real driving force behind the 1st Matrix the "Sisters" just had some catchy ideas...And they run out in the Sequels
