Too many people don't know the difference between political commentary shows and news programs.

Media execs know that the most loyal followers are those who are extreme in their beliefs so execs will feed into that no matter the consequences to the country. It divides the country but they don't care. I've seen media personalities change their rhetoric to a more extreme hateful one because that's what sells now.

It wouldn't be an issue if people didn't limit their media sources. Too many want programming to only confirm their personal biases instead of exposing themselves to multiple media for information and then analyzing and forming their own opinion using critical thinking skills. Rich and powerful who control it also use media to manipulate and control public opinion even when it's against the public's own best interest.

Chomsky laid it out well years ago in manfucturing consent. Things have only gotten worse since this was first published and the increased concentration of media control is discussed in the updated version.

Thats certainly a small part of why it exists. “If it bleeds it leads”. The constant “breaking news” garbage that became a constant around 911 used to create constant fear and panic to keep people watching. The over the top political analasys and fear mongoring to keep people angry and watching. Exaggerated analasys that used to be reserved for the most extreme nut jobs “Trump Hitler” etc... is now parroted by mainstream leftwing news anchors.

The main reason for the existence of the news media, is to push a leftwing political agenda. And it’s not limited to American media. BBC, Reuters, AP, are just as political.

A major problem is there’s no investigative journalism anymore. A story is leaked by an unidentified/fake source, if it agrees with the leftwing editors agenda, it’s picked up by ABCBSNBCNNMSNCNYTIMESBBCReutersAP. If the source is unknown they just say “the NYTimes is reporting” and suddenly it’s reported by a 1000 ledtwing media outlets. All happily reporting the exact same unverified political agenda. Using identical terms. The coordination is hilarious to watch.

See Russia collusion story as an example. After more than 18 months of reporting 24/7, there’s still zero evidence. Hasn’t stopped the demokkkrat media reporting it as though it’s happened. When they’re questioned, they conflate it with “Russian meddling”, which is as old as the changing weather.

If news networks really cared about money/ratings 1st, they’d all be more politically balanced like FoxNews who’s ratings destroy CNNBCBSABCMSNBC combined. Unfortunately for demokkkrats, their political agenda comes 1st, 2nd, 3rd. It’s their religion. It takes precedence over objectivity, critical thinking, and independent thought, Hate can’t wait.
