why wasn't she in more Edgar Wright movies?

Just think it's kinda weird she didn't have a cameo in Hot Fuzz or The World's End

Had her own projects, ambitions and schedules. Most likely.

She talks about it on Richard Herring's Leicester Square Theatre Podcast (RHLSTP) a little, and I think in a few other interviews.

As I recall she was under the impression that the trio would continue into filmmaking with Edgar directing and she and Simon writing as before, and was a little hurt when they sort of moved on without her.

She'd been pregnant/nursing during SotD (only managing a cameo in that) and figures that the boys just sort of got caught up in their own Hollywood adventures and forgot about her. She doesn't hold much of a grudge about it nowadays.

It's kind of a common tale in comedy (and many other fields!) I have to say, with a great early success not necessarily translating into the same starring or helming opportunities for the female participants as it does for the male ones.

Interesting.

Simon Pegg and Edgar Wright next for the cancellation chopping board?

reply

Simon Pegg is the one who would be most likely into cancellations these days. Being the professional nerd grown up that he is.

Funny you said that. I was watching this Spaced 21st anniversary panel discussion:-

and Pegg mentions wokeness, privileged white males, etc several times in the first few minutes!

But yeah, after the way she was horribly marginalized in Shaun of the Dead, he must be slightly worried about them being called out for their misogynous ways.

She was mainly doing other things during SOTD period. So she wasn't available for much else than what she did.

I imagine she does feel a little left behind after that. As far as I know though, they are all still friendly.
