Did Hollywood blacklist her due to the weight gain back in the late 2000's?

This is the impression I get. She was heavily promoted as an ''actress'' in the early to mid 2000's when she was thin and pretty. Despite her lack of acting talent she was put in movie after movie and the magazines constantly promoted her with her always getting covers. I get the feeling is that they wanted her to be this big star.

But after the weight gain in 2007 (based on google images) her career was mysteriously pushed aside. She did a few appearances on Entourage but other than that not much else. I also remember people on IMDB complaining about her weight gain around that time.

I seemed she was only allowed back in, in 2014 after losing weight. No, not becoming super skinny like in the early 2000's but losing a certain amount. She appeared on a teen drama called the ''red band society'' as doctor and then got a main role on ''this is us'' (or whatever that show was called).

It's actually hilarious when you think about it how they could do that. She wasn't even that ''fat'' at her heaviest by the way.

Studios stopped casting her because she's box office poison. She's suited for TV.

Box office poison? So we're pretending Tangled never existed?

reply

Probably. Unless you're funny, Hollywood doesn't like chubby people. It could also be that she isn't a very good actress.

reply

right or wrong people want to see hot people as leads. unless its a rom com or comedy and theres a reason why they arent.

I think Hollywood studios had secret contacts for women where if they gained a lot of weight they would be breaking it and wouldn't be allowed to work. It's just a theory of mine though. It's unethical but I wouldn't be surprised if it was true
.

not really unethical. if im being hired to be a model and gain abunch of wait, its not unethical i stop getting jobs.

hollywood and film is a visual medium. you are paid to act and look good.
