Totally agree with Evans on Trump, he is a bully and a hatemonger...

Also a liar, a cheat, Megalomaniac, a sexist jerk and racist ( Could mention also a suspected rapist but I won't!) You know something is very, very wrong when the KKK hold a victory rally for that prick! what does that say about the state of things to come! That film The Purge now looks like a documentary! It's like finding out they made Lex Luthor President. Sad times for America.

i am glad you took the time to write your reply, but i should point out that the OP did not call trump supporters racists/sexists/etc.

let me grant that perhaps it isn't true that trump is a liar, a cheater, a rapist, sexist, or a racist, and he was putting on a show.

i don't think anyone can or should deny that in fact, some portion of the people who voted for him are reactionary. the KKK did in fact endorse him--that is not untrue. david duke did in fact say it's a good thing that trump got elected, as did michelle bachmann and billy graham's son.

i did not vote for trump, and i think that america should respect the democratic process and move on. but i cannot say that racists incidents are not occurring all across the landscape. even if i say that 50% are complete fabrications, it still remains that a significant portion are occurring, and part of respecting the outcome of the election is acknowledging they are happening. i would even go so far to say as that trump's victory is due, in large part, to progressives' unwillingness to permit a mature conversation about the problem of religion, labeling any criticism of it axiomatically as bigotry. it allowed him to prey on a very justified anxiety about the conflicts in the middle-east and how it involves the US. and now some of our arab and persian brothers and sisters are in fact experiencing persecution as a result, we cannot say that this is not happening.

I voted for Trump, but I enjjoy Chris. BTW I read he is a very good religious perosn. End.

OP didn't but Chris Evans effectively did, and that is part of the reason why the backlash. Take this direct quote from Chris Evans on Tom Brady

"“I don’t know,” he says. “I really hope he’s not a Trump supporter. I’m just hoping he’s one of those guys that maybe supported him and now regrets it. Maybe he thought it was going to be different — and even that bothers me — but maybe there’s a chance now he just thinks Trump’s an absolute dumb shit, which he is. If he doesn’t, if he’s still on that Trump train, I might have to cut ties. It’s really tough.”

He is talking about severing ties with Brady just because he *supports* Trump, not because he is Trump. A logical extension of that is he has disdain for all Trump supporters, which means he has open disdain for me, someone who has actually paid money to see a movie he was in. Even if that weren't the case (that he was targetting us and not just the president) it actually is possible to be critical of the President of The United States without resorting to vulgarity and crassness. Show a little respect for the office. Evans, and others like him, through their venomous and low-brow attacks on the president, are actually major contributors to this toxic political environment they claim to disdain.

to again be clear--i appreciate reading your point of view. i don't know how you voted, but me personally, i understand why people voted for third parties, and i don't think that made the difference, and i even understand why some democrats voted trump, and i think again that we need to respect the democratic process and move forward. but we cannot do that and pretend this sort of thing is not happening, it is happening and we have to acknowledge it.

i'm sorry the first reply felt the need to delete their post.

again, let me be clear: for me, the people most to blame are the DNC elites and the clintons. perhaps the clintons most of all. i bet most posters here probably couldn't name the worst things the clintons have done.

i respect the outcome, but again have to emphasize that one cannot turn a blind eye to what exactly trump is. he is seriously considering making steve bannon his chief of staff:

for context, this is a guy that BEN SHAPIRO thinks is too right wing. remember, shapiro is the chap evans got in a small tiff with regarding gay rights. shapiro and bannon got into a snit at breitbart.com and did not part on the best of terms. here's an editorial.

http://www.dailywire.com/news/8441/i-know-trumps-new-campaign-chairman-steve-bannon-ben-shapiro

i think it behooves EVERYONE to raise their eyebrows at this. i know many progressives who did in fact want, on some level, trump to win. they are playing a dangerous game. they are hoping that trump will be so bad that a real progressive, not a corporatist (like the clintons or even obama), will be able to rise up from the ashes. the danger is that the country has to weather those four years. it also assumes that trump won't in fact boom the domestic economy, which might make the electorate ignore his other shortcomings and reinstall him for another four years. this is also assuming that he is not as hair-trigger as he seems and might launch a nuke somewhere. meanwhile, any progress to address climate change will surely take a hit, and there's a strong possibility that gay and women's rights will also be damaged.
