Reeve clearly, but as Whedon said, Cavill was the best fit for the character that WB could had possibly gotten at this time. We're probably gonna get an Icon movie before another Superman movie.

But he said "since Reeves", not including. I think that's fair, although I haven't seen Smallville and some other adaptations of the character.

His Superman sucks, and while I blame the writers more than the actor, his Superman still sucks. Cavill needs to find a new direction for his career, hopefully one where he doesn't have to put on an American accent. Doing that seems to drain the life out of him.

I don't want to disagree with you Otter (it's always nice to agree with you wherever possible), but note that I wasn't necessarily saying that Cavill was crap, rather I was arguing that the Superman actors that came between Reeve and Cavill were crap.

That said, Cavill can't hold a candle to Reeve as far as Superman goes. No-one can.

I agree about the in-between Superman actors. The fact is it's an incredibly difficult role to make interesting, and Reeve was the only actor who has ever really got it right. I don't expect to see another in my lifetime.

But yeah, I really dislike the DCEU Superman, not that I blame Cavill.
