Is there someone who genuinely like this guy and/or his movies?

Well , I liked Postal. It was almost auto-derision and for once Uwe Boll didn't take himself seriously.

But, yeah, other than that his career is a miss..

*me*

I'm not going to proclaim him the next 'Hitchcock'....but he has a certain style of movie-making (especially in his latter, non game-crossover adaptations) long talky intros, followed by a loud (usually violent) denounment. He has a devil-may-care attitude (which could be perceived as laziness) that allows his actors a chance to improv dialogue and character traits (which, to any actor at least, must be a blessing?) His tendency for 'shaky-cam' *can* get annoying after a while though.

And although I prefer his lower-budget stuff...I've never understood the hate that 'House Of The Dead' gets (when it's no less generic or over/undereblown as the 'Resident Evil' franchise)

He's not always successful, but since 'Seed' or 'Postal', he's had a pretty good run of movies that have (sadly) been ignored, due to herd-mentality of haters (half of which, haven't seen his movies)
Stoic, Rampage & (especially) Darfur, if made by any other director would have much more positive reviews (if not for the fact that the 'hate' for Boll, is cast in stone for the hipster interenet 'meme' brigade) a subsection, I took great pleasure in seeing Boll knock out in the boxing ring too.

Al in all, Uwe Boll (despite his protestations) will likely return to directing in a year or two. He's too much of a character and (IMO) a talent to go to waste, in these increasingly 'woke' times?

I agree. Stoic, Rampage, Darfur and Tunnel Rats are good, especially Darfur and Rampage. Their ratings were punished by herd mentality.

His movies aren't great. But they make for a good laugh. Rampage is his best. His social media smacktalk is hilarious.

Yep, it was fun back then, especially the boxing match. And his movies are pure unintentional fun, but these mentioned by me are average at worst. Rampage is my favorite because I love grindhouse movies. Made for the shock value by a crap artist - this is the real stuff, not some imitation. But cinematically Darfur is his best, albeit far from great.
