Biden pardons marijuana use nationwide

WASHINGTON Joe Biden announced Friday he's issuing a federal pardon to every American who has used marijuana in the past, including those who were never arrested or prosecuted.

The sweeping pardon applies to all U.S. citizens and lawful permanent residents in possession of marijuana for their personal use and those convicted of similar federal crimes. It also forgives pot users in the District of Columbia. It does not apply to individuals who have been jailed for selling the drug, which is illegal under federal law, or other marijuana offenses such as driving under the influence of an illegal substance.

Pot should have been federally legalized decades ago.

reply

Biden's act is not really an official "legalization" on a Fed level of pot, which is still classified as a Schedule 1 controlled substance.

reply

I'm glad I live in a state where weed is illegal and I hope it stays that way.

reply

So you hate money?

reply

To me it represents the dumbing down of the masses to keep people stupid.

As a former user for 30+ years (haven't done it in almost 12 years now😎), I'm generally in favor of legalization......to a degree. I really don't see pot as anymore harmful.......nor less harmful than alcohol, tobacco or any other drug depending on the individual using it, how often & under what circumstances it's used.

However, I do have concerns about the increasing "normalization" of its use in society/popular culture. I think it sends the wrong message. It does really dumb down a lot of people.

When you are trying to be social and when everyone acts like getting high is the cool thing to do I feel like giving into peer pressure is being weak minded. I've spent the last several years dealing with anxiety and depression issues and know smoking would never help me. I suppose if I'd ever try it maybe an edible but that's it.

reply

I understand what you wrote, but drug use and binge drinking go on despite one being illegal and the other dangerous.

reply

I bet you don't drink alcohol and possibly are for bringing back prohibition.

reply

smells like a desperate move to win votes

reply

Smoke up Johnny.
