Edit: I made the film available to me but never took the time to watch it. Turns out Julian Sands is just not that interesting, they are winding down the search for him as well.
I think they wound down the search about six months ago.
Really, there was never any hope after the first few days, and they couldn't send anyone up the trail for the first few days because the biggest winter storm in a decade was dumping feet of snow on the trail he was last seen on.
