Favorite 'joint?'' by Spike???

Mine is Clockers
Such a perfect vision of the hard bitten inner city
Young promising kids getting lured into stupid life choices by local crime boss authority figures...nobody is really evil but blood must be shed...the cops are just regular middle class guys doing a job...endless cycle of sorrow
THIS is Spikes best imo... Not a false note in the whole film

School Daze.
Do The Right Thing.
Jungle Fever.
Malcolm X.
Clockers.

Hi NorrinRad
Nice to see you

I did not care for Daze and Fever but the rest were really good movies!

Malcolm X actually made me read up on the guy...interesting American history right there and i loved the Denzel performance (hell, when is D ever bad?)

Thx man

reply

Summer of Sam, but I haven't seen most of his joints.

reply

Summer of Sam is my second favorite Spike movie...i was impressed by the creepy parts and thought the 70s atmosphere was done perfectly
Third pick would be Do the Right Thing

reply

Yes, like Allaby I will have to add BlackKklansman to my list of great Spike Lee Joints.

reply

Allaby knows movies!

reply

Do The Right Thing and Blackkklansman

reply

I have yet to see Blackkklansman
Spike has directed some real good ones

reply

Blackkklansman is fantastic and a must see when you get the chance.

reply

Sounds a lot like Donnie Brasco so I'm all in (gotta love the 'deep cover agent' movies!)
Thx man

Do The Right Thing, and it's not even close. It's probably the best film of the 80's and one of the greatest of all time. I say Malcolm X is a close second. 25th Hour, Jungle Fever, Crooklyn, Summer of Sam, Inside Man, Clockers and He Got Game are also great films.

reply

Do the Right Thing, followed closely by Blackkklansman.

reply

I saw Blackkklansman recently
It really was excellent

reply
