Why Did Carrie Fisher Constantly Pout Her Lips Later In Life?

Was it due to dental implants? Plastic surgery? Medication side effect?

ALL of the above.

I noticed that, it was very strange. She also had very loud breathing.

The heavy breathing could have been due to all of the years of drug abuse (and alcohol abuse) that she put herself through. She was a great actress, but there is no denying that she really put herself through hell for many years before sobering up.

It's often said that people who suffer with COPD will often purse their lips in order to catch their breath. I noticed in a lot of her more recent interviews that she seemed to have a hard time breathing. COPD patients will often inhale air suddenly through their nose in order to talk as they are often short of breath. Not saying this is what Carrie had, but I also wouldn't be surprised.

Mark Hamil is on his way or already in COPD land. His breathing is really bad now. He also has hand tremors every interview I have seen him in for the last two years. He looked pretty good when he was promoting TFA durng the summer of 2015. But the last three years hasn't been kind of him.

Not a doctor but I'm probably not far off the mark when I say being a heavy smoker all of her life probably contributed to that. I was listening to one of her last podcast interviews from November 2016 and you could hear her aspirated breathing. She used to use those e-cigarettes a few years back perhaps doctors orders or requirement when doing those Star Wars movies. I'm not a big fan of vaping either but at the very least her health would have slightly improved.

I know smokers and they don't breathe like that but it is possible. Maybe she had emphysema? Who knows. Poor woman.

I was also wondering WTH is with her mouth! From the nose down does not look like Carrie Fisher.

reply

I know what you mean. I always assumed it was a botox side effect.

reply

I think it is an acting thing ... it makes people look less old and more engaged.
