Elisabeth Shue should be in the big leagues(and not in tennis)

Elisabeth Shue should be in the big leagues of her career(and not in tennis). really thought that after the oscar nod for best actress for Leaving Las Vegaas(the oscar should've been hers IMO)her career would take off. She should be in the Julia Roberts leagues. Actually i thought her career would've taken off really in the 1980s after being in big hits such as The Karate Kid and Adventures in Babysitting(both movies being better than they're given credit for). I really hope Hope Springs will get her to where she belongs in her career. BTW she is soooooooo hot, always has been one of my faves in terms of hotness and acting ability.

I just watched The Saint again after many years and she just shines in that film. She really should have been in many more a-list projects but from what I read she put her children first. That makes her a-list in my book, good for her.

I recall reading that Shue had been attending Harvard with in a year or two of Leaving Los Vegas. It sounded like she took time off to attend school right around the time her career peaked. I thought it was an extremely odd choice. I also recall reading that she was first choice for the lead in the Good Wife but turned it down. Then she wound up doing CSI at the end of the run.

Shue gave an interview years ago where she made fun of Ralph Macchio and pretty much called him a loser, she came off like a real bitch.

Elisabeth Shue started Harvard in the early 80's and dropped out to work as an actress, but went back in the late 90's and finished her degree. She didn't make very interesting choices after Leaving Las Vegas, and could've done better if she had gone for smaller character parts then trying to launch herself as a leading lady after an Oscar nom.

There's an interview that she did with Mike Figgis in 1998 where she said: "I’ve always been fascinated with how some actresses do become successful so quickly. For me it was definitely a thirteen year process. I definitely wasn’t on my knees. Maybe it would have got me here much quicker. It was something that I heard about when I was younger – Beware of the casting couch. It never happened to me. But I think a lot of women do learn how to seduce, in a way, in order to get certain roles that are beyond their talent."

Wow, I am happy that Ms. Elisabeth Shue didn't fall on those casting couches. It's even more sad that this has been a norm in Hollywood [most prolly from the start].

However, Hollywood banks on individuals whom will do anything for money, 'power', fame, or "glory". All one has to do is cast a line, waiting for the next person to "bite".

The demise of Elisabeth Shue's career

Few stars were as appealing to youthful audiences in the mid to late 1980s as Elisabeth Shue. She appeared in some of the decade's most famous films, including The Karate Kid, Adventures in Babysitting, Leaving Las Vegas, The Hollow Man, and the second and third Back to the Future films. Shue was known at the time for being the quintessential girl-next-door, but as her career progressed, she questioned that image.

She went on babysitting excursions and had drinks with Tom Cruise. She was an Academy Award contender for Leaving Las Vegas in the 1990s, but she then faded from view until recently.
