Where Did It All Go Wrong for J.Lo?

Weak tour sales, a baffling album-movie-documentary, and general online mockery—why does everyone seem to have a problem with Jennifer Lopez?

From the article:

But J.Lo is a talented entertainer, undeniably, even as she struggles to narrow her ambitions in response to that pesky, inevitable question: talented at what, exactly?

reply

She's a talented dancer?

She has name recognition but is not the star she was 20 years ago. And she can't understand it. She is popular with tabloids. But not among public. No one cares.

reply

She's worth $400M. Imagine being concerned about her success.

The widely panned and ridiculed movie "Gigli" in 2003 was when it all fell apart. Before that film, she was white-hot, and she had a strong 7-8 year run as a singer and actress from 1995-2002

the album movie itself was really cool though. i couldnt get more than about half way through though before skipping around cause i wasnt digging the music but it was cool. that adds to list of album movies ive stumbled upon: melanie martinez, beyonce, halsey (very nice and stylistic, copious amounts of necessary nudity).. i like the trend. theyre very creative. hope i stumble upon more

"what went wrong"? i thought everyone has haters though.. the question is why theyre being elevated in this case and why now..i'm wondering if the rumor press have huge unrequited crushes on affleck.. now's their time to strike i guess

it didnt help JLO that her tour also had bad news but she did just stunningly banger her way into the annals 🍑 of netflix history with atlas... mother is still comfortably at #9 most popular of all time. notice they forget to mention these in their little article

dont all pop stars have a shitty album now and then..taylor swift, beyonce..thought i heard something about that. these things ebb and flow

maybe JLO's ebbing
give it a couple years i imagine she'll be on her way back to flowing

im kinda interested in checking out that documentary now
her plan worked🥴

I remember that she was very famous in the late 90s, early 2000s, but then her popularity dropped off when she got involved with Ben Affleck. At the time, she was openly cheating on her husband, and he was openly cheating on his current girlfriend, and it outraged a lot of people.

Age and not starring in more films probably also played a part. She got older and became less relevant with the Gen Y's after the early 2000s, and unless you listened to her music (which isn't actually that noteworthy compared to thousands of other pop stars of the millennium), you didn't hear much about her in the news.

Jen also appears to have very poor taste in men. She always goes for the ones who are bad for her, and never learns her lesson. It's why she's been through so many boyfriends and husbands over the years.

That, and fame changed her, made her into a control freak. She isn't much fun to work with in person, whether it be on movie sets, music video sets, or in recording studios. She is very demanding. Being a control freak is partially what drove away many men from her, including Ben Affleck, twice!
